Lots has been going on creatively for the last few months. Much work personally based on my own journals and books such as Achilles in Vietnam, Hansel and Gretel, and others. Achilles...was helpful because it refers to combat as a metaphor for abusive, neglectful and one other kind of family, which I had/have. Gave me much insight into what was so very painful about it.
On the other hand, creativity abounds with screen grabs from Queer as Folk, for transcribing scripts and including grabs from it. Learned a great deal about acting, and especially, editing, from doing these grabs and transcriptions. I realized they have two cameras only to film with and editing required that the actors speak exactly the words in the script as it made jumps into and out of cuts easier and more smooth. Often, the same frame was used for a long period of time when action would have also been a good choice. Because the words were exact, cutting to action was easier and less complicated.
I would guess it may have limited the actors and directors creatively.
Surprising to me is that editing is fascinatiing and even though might appear tedious, it is not. What cut to use where becomes a creative challenge and I often wish I had taken the Avid editing class in Film School. One day perhaps.
Must run now.
